We are looking for a Sales Executive – Publishing Services to drive business growth and build lasting client relationships across the UK, USA, and European markets. The role focuses on identifying new opportunities, managing key accounts, and expanding our footprint within the academic, STM, trade, and journals publishing ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will work closely with production, editorial, and leadership teams to align client needs with our service offerings, deliver compelling proposals, and support the full sales lifecycle — from prospecting to deal closure and account retention.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies targeting publishers, content companies, and academic institutions across UK, USA, and Europe
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients through outbound outreach, industry events, and referrals
- Conduct client presentations and product demonstrations showcasing publishing services capabilities
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements in line with company objectives
- Manage and grow existing key accounts, ensuring high retention and upsell opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams to prepare tailored proposals and RFP responses
- Track and report on sales metrics, pipeline health, and revenue forecasts using CRM tools
- Represent the company at publishing industry conferences and trade events (Frankfurt Book Fair, London Book Fair, BookExpo, etc.)

Candidate Profile
- Experience: Minimum 12–15 years of prior experience in Publishing Services / Content Production with a strong focus on sales, business development, or key account management in the UK, USA, or European markets
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Publishing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end sales cycles from lead generation to contract closure
- Build and nurture senior-level relationships with commissioning editors, production heads, and procurement teams at publishing houses
- Develop territory plans and go-to-market strategies for assigned regions
- Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to the leadership team
- Coordinate closely with production and operations teams to ensure seamless onboarding of new clients
- Technical & Professional Skills:
- Deep understanding of publishing workflows — typesetting, editorial services, digital publishing, EPUB, and XML-based production
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in B2B publishing services
- Experience working with academic/STM, trade, or journals publishers in UK/USA/Europe
- Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
- Strong understanding of publishing industry trends, digital transformation, and outsourcing models
- Preferred:
- Existing network of contacts within publishing houses, academic institutions, or content companies in the UK, USA, or Europe
- Experience selling outsourced publishing or content services
- Familiarity with JATS, BITS, EPUB3, or other publishing standards
- Ability to mentor and coach junior sales or pre-sales team members
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Consultative selling approach with strong ability to understand client pain points
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently across time zones
- High attention to detail and commitment to client satisfaction
- Location: Open to candidates based in the UK, USA, or Europe. Remote working considered for the right candidate with regular travel to client sites and industry events.
