We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented LaTeX Developer to join our publishing technology and production team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in LaTeX-based publishing workflows, XML processing, HTML, scripting, and academic publishing services.
This role involves working closely with editorial, production, and technology teams to develop, maintain, and optimise automated publishing workflows for books, journals, and scholarly content. The candidate should be capable of handling complex layouts, mathematical content, structured data workflows, and automation requirements in a fast-paced publishing environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain LaTeX-based publishing workflows for journals and books.
- Handle complex mathematical equations, tables, references, bibliographies, and technical content.
- Work with XML, HTML, and structured content workflows for academic and STM publishing.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for publishing and conversion workflows.
- Support LaTeX to XML / HTML conversion processes and workflow optimisation.
- Troubleshoot formatting, compilation, and layout-related issues in LaTeX projects.
- Collaborate with editorial, QA, and production teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to publisher guidelines, templates, and production standards.
- Maintain technical documentation and workflow processes.

Candidate Profile
- Experience
- Minimum 3-5+ years of experience as a LaTeX Developer in publishing
services, academic publishing, or content production environments.
- Minimum 3-5+ years of experience as a LaTeX Developer in publishing
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Publishing
Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of LaTeX workflows and document structuring.
- Good understanding of XML, HTML, CSS, and publishing technologies.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, JavaScript, or
Shell scripting. - Familiarity with XML editors and publishing tools such as Oxygen XML
Editor, TeXstudio, WinEdt, or similar. - Understanding of scholarly, STM, and academic publishing workflows.
- Knowledge of automated publishing and conversion processes is preferred.
- Experience in handling complex technical and scientific content.
