To refine and further their efforts, B&N recently struck out in a new direction, appointing retail veteran Fred Argir in a newly created executive role to helm their Nook and e-Commerce efforts.
Last week, Digital Book World Conference + Expo announced Argir as an exciting Keynote addition to the 2016 Conference in New York City this March.
Argir will join in a dialogue with Mike Shatzkin, Conference Council Chair and Idea Logical Company Founder. The two will discuss the company’s plans as B&N works to improve collaboration as part of this new, strategic initiative.
Argir’s extensive retail history—including posts at Toys “R” Us and The Sports Authority—gives him a unique perspective from which to lead B&N’s e-Commerce division. His five years at Target mean supply chain experience invaluable to the book retailer.
Argir’s appointment heralds a new direction for the pioneering bookstore chain. And it’s no doubt one many in publishing will want to hear about firsthand.
